The Al Shabaab group targeted a house where the governor and senior officers of the Somali military were staying.
Ahmed Bule, the governor of Gedo region, is said to have been seriously injured. Reports also say that the commander of the 43rd Command in Gedo region was injured in the attack.
The attack coincided with the visit of the President of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud, to the region in the coming weeks.
