In his quarterly report to Security Council about the Somalia’s political progress, UN Secretary General António Guterres calls for Somalia government to find peace solutions to ongoing political and Security crisis in the country.
In his statement he said, “The political stalemate of recent months has impaired the expected progress”. In reference to the continuing standoff between the Federal Government and federal member states and the tensions emanating from the electoral process in South-West state, António Guterres urged President Farmaajo to put the national interest first and resolve his differences with member states without further delay.
Secretary General also expressed confidence on his representative in Somalia Mr Nicholas Heysom. He said “I commend my Special Representative Nicholas Haysom & DS Representatives for their continued hard work under challenging conditions”.
UN Special Representative Nicholas Heysom is expected to give a full report to UN Securty Council in the next few hours.
